That awesome moment when

So, I just had one of those awesome moments when I realized that I am almost done with book number 2 in The World Among Us trilogy :).  I just started writing chapter 16, and this is the point in the book where all of the action happens.  Well, all of the major climatic action happens anyway.  I have a clear idea of how I want the book to end, which is awesome!

Presently, I am just under 40,000 words, and have at least 10,000-15,000 more words left to write.  It all depends on how quickly everything happens from here on out.  I am super excited for this, for there was a period of time where I didn’t think that there would ever be an end in sight!

It’s honestly sort of a bitter-sweet feeling I have to admit.

But, I am very excited about this none-the-less.  It means that I will most definitely be finishing writing this novel before the end of the summer like I had hoped!  HOORAY!

Now, keep in mind, this is only the first draft. This book will probably go through at least 2 drafts before I submit it to a publisher.

But hey, it’s a start, right?

YAY!

New Release: Writings From the Heart anthology

So, for those of you who have been following my facebook posts lately, you all know that I have been working on this international anthology project.  The anthology is called: Writings From the Heart: Stories and Poetry from Around the World.  It is composed of 30 different authors and has many different sub-genres.  By the subtitle, you can bet that there are both poems AND short stories in it.  All literature in the anthology is geared toward Young Adults and children.  All proceeds from this book, will go to the Adult Congenital Heart Disease program at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY.  It is a new program that was recently started by my cardiologist, Dr. Scott Pilgrim.  The purpose of the program is to help transition kids into the adult congenital heart program. As a patient myself, I can personally attest to how great this program and Dr. Pilgrim are.

The proceeds will be going towards research and education for this new project.

I am happy to say that the anthology is FINALLY COMPLETE, and will be released on Wednesday, June 6 (this week).  It will be available in paperback and all ebook formats.  The price of the paperback is $13.00, and the price for the ebook is $4.99.

I hope you will support this worthy cause, and will help me get this book onto the best sellers list!

Writerly Wednesday #6: cover reveal and BIG NEWS!

Hello everyone! And welcome to this weeks version of Writerly Wednesday. WW for short, was started by the lovely Erin Danzer at http://www.erindanzer.blogspot.com.

Today, I am VERY excited to reveal the cover and book trailer for an anthology that I single handedly coordinated and put together. But first, let me tell you a little bit about it.

About a year ago, I put out a call for submissions for YA short stories and poetry to be put into an anthology, where all proceeds would benefit a charity. This charity is called the pediatric cardiology department of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY. Why this particular place?

Because 28 years ago I was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease and operated on successfully. This book is my way of showing my thanks to a community of excellent doctors who have treated me and cared for me over the years.

I am happy to announce, that I received an overwhelming response to my call for submissions. This group of authors is a wonderfully talented bunch. It is an international and eclectic group of writers who have come together for one thing…to support our children.

As someone who does a lot of work with the youth in my own community, I have been truly touched and humbled by everyone’s passion to help the young ones in today’s world.

The anthology is called Writings From the Heart: Stories and Poetry From Around the World, and will be released in both paperback and ebook format.

I hope you all will join me on Erin Danzer’s blog http://www.erindanzer.blogspot.com for the cover and trailer reveal. The book will be $15 in paperback and $1.99 USD. Please help us climb the bookstore charts on release day! Release day is June 6.

Thanks for reading, and remember to hop on over to Erin’s blog and look at the pretty picture and trailer 🙂

New title suggestions for Luney Writers anthology

As most of you know, I have been putting together an anthology where I am going to be donating all the proceeds to the pediatric cardiology office in the Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY (formerly LIJ).

Presently, the anthology is called Luney Writers. However, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and have come to realize that this title just does not flow well with what the anthology is about.  It contains 30 poems and short stories, and should be available in ebook and paperback come the beginning of June.

I have created a poll after discussing the potential title changes with the participating members.  Now it is up to you to help us decide which title you like better!  Remember to say the title with “An Anthology” at the end of it.

Thanks for your help!

Writerly Wednesday

Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of Writerly Wednesday, a meme started by the lovely Erin Danzer.  In this meme, I will be discussing all things related to writing. Whether it’s about my latest work in progress, promoting another author or just giving out advice.

This week, I am excited to announce that I FINALLY finished writing the rough draft of my short story called Hell’s Captive.  To be perfectly honest, I am so stoked and excited that this story is FINALLY done.  I honestly didn’t think it would ever end.  I kept having to put it down, and it was just a very long time in between picking it up again. Well, my muse is back, and she pushed me to finish the rough draft of it this morning right before work.  It is an AMAZING feeling once you accomplish something that you have been working hard on.

Hell’s Captive will be going into a novella along with another short story titled Hell Bound.  The novella will be called To Hades and Back.  If Otherworld signs it, I am going to talk to Lynn, my publisher, about including Murderous Regrets as a freebie, since it is written in the same style as the other two stories.  Plus, it will make the book longer.

I also wanted to announce, that I just hired Regina Wamba to design a book trailer for Prince of Darkness.  If she does a great job (which I am sure she will), I will hire her to do Daughter of Light’s trailer (formerly Stormy Nights) when the time is right.

So now I have the grueling task of editing Hell Bound and Hell’s Captive, but in the end it will be worth it when I am offered that contract 🙂

Happy Wednesday!

30k in the current WIP and a new subtitle

I did it! I FINALLY hit the 30k mark in book 2 of The World Among Us saga, which is presently titled Stormy Nights.  I will be perfectly honest…I don’t think that subtitle fits this book anymore.  Now that I think about it, I don’t think that it really fit to begin with.  It didn’t hit me until the other day when I woke up and realized that I wasn’t writing Stormy Nights…I was writing something else.  Besides, Stormy Nights is soooo cliche lol.  Therefore, I’ve come up with two alternatives for book 2.  In this book, Selene discovers that magic exists as well as other supernatural beings.  Book 2 mostly focuses on Selene and her coming to terms with and accepting all the events that happened in Prince of Darkness (book #1).

So, now that you know a little bit of the background of book #2, I’d like to propose two possible subtitles.  The are as follows:

Princess of Light

or

Daughter of Light

I personally think that Daughter of Light sounds better with The World Among Us, but I want to know what you all think.  I chose those titles, because Selene is Theia’s daughter, and Theia is the goddess of light according to Greek Mythology. Plus, Selene represents all things good.  What do you guys think?  Your input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys!
